This morning I have the privilege to announce the winners of my competition. In case you’re reading this for the first time, take a look at what you missed out on HERE.

These two lucky winners will walk away with 1 year’s membership to a super cool financial software to help them achieve their goals.

So without further ado… the WINNERS are…

Kellie Magnus – Jackmandora

kelliemagnuslittleliongold2

This week’s  entrepreneur is different. I know… everyone is different, but Kellie Magnus is my first Jamaican entrepreneur and she is also a writer so her business is certainly not typical.

Kellie is a Caribbean author and journalist. She is no dud… she has an undergraduate degree from Harvard and an MBA in Entertainment and Media Management from Columbia University.

She has taken our Caribbean culture (specifically Jamaican culture) and weaved tales that children not only love, but from which they also learn. They come with classroom resources or teacher’s guides so they can be used in schools as well as for supplementary reading at home. In addition to this she also writes features for the Caribbean Beat and the Jamaica Weekly Gleaner (NY).

Of course, the real reason she is of interest to D Caribbean Entrepreneur is because she has turned her passion for writing into a real income flow. Her publishing company Jackmandora is the umbrella under which all her children’s stories are published.

Have You Read “Drive”?

Drive

Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us should probably be essential reading for every entrepreneur or would-be entrepreneur because it really gets to the heart of why we do what we do.

Pink is a good story-teller and speech-writer so his prose is not boring. This is most likely the reason that he manages to take a subject matter – motivation -that wants to lean towards an academic slant and gracefully puts a more creative and interesting spin on it.

What Exercising Can Teach You About Entrepreneurship

photo_10890_20091223

I used to be a regular gym buff, but as time passed,  I moved away from my old gym and my gym buddies, got married and well you can probably guess what happened there! But alas, enough is enough, so I’ve started getting back into a regimen of daily exercise and I got to thinking about the parallels between entrepreneurship and exercise.

I know it sounds weird, but I promise it’s not as far out as you might think.
